An aerosol provision device comprises: a device memory; and a device processor configured to, on receipt of an article by the aerosol provision device: receive article information for the article; determine whether the device memory stores modified aerosol generation information in association with the article information, the modified aerosol generation information relating to a user preference for aerosol generation for the article; and in response to determining that the device memory stores modified aerosol generation information in association with the article information, control an aerosol generator according to the modified aerosol generation information,wherein the device processor is further configured to, in response to receiving modified aerosol generation for the article from a user, control the device memory to store the modified aerosol generation information in association with the article information.

An article for an aerosol provision device, the article comprising: an aerosol generator for generating aerosol from aerosol generating material; a first article electrical connector comprising a first article contact and a first aerosol generator contact; a second article electrical connector comprising a second article contact and a second aerosol generator contact, the first and second article electrical connectors configured to provide an electrical connection between the aerosol provision device and the aerosol generator; and a connecting face. The first article contact and the second article contact are formed in the connecting face. Each article electrical connector comprises an extension portion, the extension portions extending in a direction of the connecting face. The first article contact and the second article contact are configured to contact, respectively, a first device contact and a second device contact of the aerosol provision device. The first aerosol generator contact and the second aerosol generator contact are configured to contact the aerosol generator. The first article contact is offset from the second article contact in a first direction and the first aerosol generator contact is offset from the second aerosol generator contact in a second direction, the first direction being angled relative to the second direction.

An article comprising: an aerosol generator for generating aerosol from aerosol generating material; a reservoir for storing the aerosol generating material; and a passage leading from the reservoir to an aerosol generator to permit flow of aerosol generating material from the reservoir to the aerosol generator, wherein the passage is shaped to encourage an air bubble to escape the passage into the reservoir.

An article of smokable material, the article having an indicium for detection by a sensor of an apparatus arranged to cause heating of the smokable material, the article further comprising a tipping paper, wherein the indicium is at an edge of the tipping paper.

An apparatus (1) arranged to heat smokable material (5) to volatilise at least one component of said smokable material is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing (2) and a plurality of heater segments (20) longitudinally arranged within the housing for heating smokable material contained within the apparatus. At least one heater segment defines a smaller volume than at least one other heater segment.

A control device for an electronic aerosol provision system is configured to receive a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol provision system, the replaceable component comprising an aerosol precursor material. The control device is further configured to receive an identifier from the replaceable component received by the control device; and provide output to a user based on the received identifier, wherein the output is provided on a display of the electronic aerosol provision system, the display comprising one or more light emitting diodes, and wherein providing the output comprises applying a colour and/or temporal pattern to the one or more light emitting diodes based on the received identifier.

An aerosol generating device for receiving an aerosol generating article comprising a conductive material. The aerosol generating device comprises an electrical circuit comprising: a controller configured to detect a change in capacitance of the circuit; a conductive surface for interacting electromagnetically with the conductive material when arranged in proximity; and conductive elements connecting the controller to the conductive surface. The change in capacitance is caused by the user inserting the aerosol generating article in the aerosol provision device. The conductive surface is configured to, when the aerosol generating article is fully received in use, have a first capacitance value with the conductive material.

Apparatus arranged to heat smokable material to volatilise at least one component of the smokable material is described. In an example, the apparatus comprises at least one heater [200, 300] constructed and arranged to heat smokable material contained in use within the apparatus . The heater [200, 300] has a plurality of heating regions [232, 234, 236] for heating different portions of smokable material contained in use within the apparatus . At least a first heating region of the heater has a different watt density from at least a second heating region of the heater.

Provided is an assembly for use in an apparatus for heating aerosolizable material to volatilize at least one component of the aerosolizable material to generate an inhalable aerosol. The assembly having a structure delimiting an opening through which aerosolizable material can be removably inserted into the apparatus, a door coupled to the structure and movable between an open position where access to the opening is unrestricted and a closed position where access to the opening is restricted, and a latching arrangement configured to hold the door in at least one of the open position and the closed position when the door is in the one of the open position and the closed position until an external force is applied, in use, to release the latching arrangement.

Disclosed herein is an aerosol generating system comprising (i) an aerosol generating article comprising an aerosol generating material, the aerosol generating material comprising nicotine and an aerosol generating agent, and (ii) an aerosol generating device comprising an induction heater; wherein during operation, the article is inserted into the device and an aerosol is generated by using the induction heater to heat the aerosol generating material to at least 150°C; wherein (i) the mean particle or droplet size in the generated aerosol is less than about 1000 nm in an aerosol generated under an airflow of at least 1.50L/m during a two-second period, and/or (ii) wherein the aerosol density generated during a two-second period under an airflow of at least 1.50L/m during the period, is at least 0.1 µg/cc.
