Abstract

The method involves detecting (1) an occurrence of battery disconnection followed by battery connection. Occurrence of a maintenance operating or repairing mode of a vehicle is detected (2). Verification (3) is made whether estimation of a charging state of the battery is reliable when the mode occurrence is not detected. Verification (4) is made whether the state of the battery is higher than preset critical threshold of the state. An automatic stop and start function of a heat engine of the vehicle is activated (5) without considering the battery state, when the mode occurrence is detected. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle comprising an estimator for estimating a charging state of a battery.
