Abstract

The present invention relates to a beam structure (100) comprising a beam stress arrangement (20) and a method for providing a controlled deformation of a beam structure (100) in a vehicle (10). The beam stress arrangement (20) is adapted to impart the beam structure (100) with a stress so as to impose, or promote, a designated buckle point (40) on the beam structure (100), should the beam structure (100) be subjected to a collision. The present invention enables a beam stress arrangement which can be activated or deactivated and provides for a beam structure which can be promoted to a buckle mode without subjecting the beam structure to a permanent deformation.
