Abstract

There are provided a throw away type rotary cutting apparatus (1) and a tip holder (12). The throw away type rotary cutting apparatus comprises a throw away tip (14) having a cutting edge formed thereon, the tip holder having a support section (30) that holds the throw away tip, a drive unit (10) that supports and rotates the tip holder, and a mounting table (16) that can move relative to the axis of rotation (12a) of the tip holder, wherein the tip holder further comprises an inlet path (32) that is formed in the position of the axis of rotation and through which coolant is introduced, a heat exchange section (34) that performs heat exchange between the introduced coolant and the throw away tip, and a discharge path (36) that discharges the coolant after heat exchange. Cooling efficiency is improved by cooling the throw away tip from mainly the inside of the tip holder.
