Abstract
In an optical switching node (100) for a WDM optical network, a receiver block (40) comprises : an optical spatial switching matrix (3) comprising a plurality of transponder-side ports connected to optical receivers (1) and a plurality of network-side ports, a first star-coupler (4) comprising a plurality of coupler outputs (5) connected to a first subset of the network-side ports, the first star-coupler comprising a first coupler input (6) connected to a first programmable demultiplexer (20) and a second coupler input (6) connected to a second programmable demultiplexer, and a second star-coupler (4) comprising a plurality of coupler outputs (5) connected to a second subset of the network-side ports, the second star-coupler comprising a first coupler input connected to the first programmable demultiplexer and a second coupler input connected to the second programmable demultiplexer.
