Abstract

An electrospinning apparatus (10) includes a first spinneret (220) and a second spinneret (270), each including a reservoir (222, 272) and an orifice (221,271). The first and second spinnerets (220, 270) have first and second electrical charges generated by first and second voltage sources, respectively. The first spinneret orifice (221 is located substantially opposite the second spinneret orifice (271). The first and second spinnerets (220, 270) may be used to prepare a medical device (260) defining a lumen with a proximal end, a distal end, a luminal (263) surface and an abluminal surface (262). The first spinneret orifice (221) distal end may be configured to be located outside of the medical device lumen and between about 0.1 inches (0.25 cm) and about 6.0 inches (15 cm) from the medical device abluminal surface (262). The second spinneret orifice (271) distal end may be configured to be located in the medical device (260) lumen and between about 0.1 inches (0.25 cm) and about 6.0 inches (15 cm) from the medical device luminal surface (263).
