Abstract

The present invention relates to a machine tool (100) in which a tool mounted in a spindle (34) is exchanged with a tool conveyed by a conveying section (10). The conveying section (10) is equipped with a plurality of grip arms (70) for gripping tools. The grip arm (70) has an arm section (76), and guide plates (75) located on both sides of the arm section (76) rockably support the grip arm. The face of each guide plate (75) opposed to the grip arm (70) is a flat face (753, 756) formed along the rocking direction of the grip arm (70). A spherical member (763) provided for a protruding section (765) protruding from each of both side faces of the arm section (76) rolls along the flat face (753, 756). A guide mechanism for guiding the rocking of the grip arm 70 is disposed on the side section of the grip arm (70). Hence, the size of the machine tool (100) can be made more compact than that of a conventional machine tool in which a guide mechanism for guiding the rocking of the grip arm 70 is disposed in the upper end section of the arm section 76 and above the upper end section.
