Abstract
The invention relates to a negative active material for a rechargeable lithium battery including silicon oxide particles represented by SiO<x>(where 0.5≤x≤1.5) having a concentration gradient such that the atom% concentration of silicon is decreased as a function of the depth from the surface of each particle to the center of the particle, and the atom% concentration of oxygen (O) increased.
