Abstract
A parking brake system (100) for an aircraft comprises an electric motor (104) coupled to a high gear ratio transmission (112), a first clutch (106) for engaging the electric motor (104) to a propulsion transmission (108), and a second clutch (110) for engaging the propulsion transmission (108) to an aircraft wheel (114). The high gear ratio transmission (112) has a gear ratio sufficient to maintain the aircraft wheel (114) in a stationary position.
