Abstract

An automatic winder 10 includes a plurality of winding units 11, a plurality of yarn defect detecting devices 31, and a comparing section 42. The plurality of the winding units 11 forms a package 18 by unwinding a yarn 16 wound around a yarn supplying bobbin 15. Each of the plurality of the yarn defect detecting devices 31 is mounted in each of the plurality of the winding units 11, and detects a yarn defect of the yarn 16 wound by each of the winding units 11. A comparing section 42 compares detection results of the plurality of the yarn defect detecting devices 31. The comparing 42 also calculates a tendency of occurrence of the yarn defect in accordance with the detection results of the plurality of the yarn defect detecting devices 31, and compares the tendency of occurrence with the detection result of the yarn defect detecting device 31.
