Abstract
A charging device (100; 100A) includes a discharge electrode (30) configured to charge a surface of an image carrier (2); a charging device body (1A) including an opening portion (31) that is provided so as to surround the discharge electrode (30) and be opposed to a surface of the image carrier (2) across a longitudinal direction of the discharge electrode (30); a charging duct member (7; 7A) that is provided so as to surround at least the entire opening portion (31) and configured to introduce and exhaust an airflow within the surrounded area; an intake unit (5) configured to generate an airflow to be guided into the charging duct member (7; 7A); and an exhaust unit (9) configured to exhaust the airflow guided. The charging duct member (7; 7A) includes an airflow wall (29) forming unit for covering, with an airflow wall (29), the entire opening portion (31) from an upstream end to a downstream end in a rotation direction of the image carrier (2) at the opening portion (31).
