Abstract

The present invention provides a process comprising reacting a halogenated thiocarbonyl compound represented by Formula (1): wherein Ar 1 is an optionally substituted aryl group and X is halogen, with an arylated metal compound represented by Formula (2): Ar 2 -M, wherein Ar 2 is an optionally substituted aryl group and M is an alkali metal or monovalent copper. This process can produce the desired aryl ester of arylthionocarboxylic acid represented by Formula (3): wherein Ar 1 and Ar 2 are as defined above, in a high yield under relatively mild reaction conditions.
