Abstract

Provided is a glass optical fibre prefrom hanging mechanism that, when hanging a starting member or a glass preform vertically during deposition, sintering, elongation or drawing, can connect the upper hanging shaft tube 3 and the lower hanging component 1 tightly and reliably and can vertically align the hanging component 1 and the center of the glass preform 6 or starting matrerial. The mechanism comprises a hanging pin 5 inserted through horizontal holes 8,11. An independent claim for a method of using the hanging mechanism is also provided.
