Abstract

A turbomachine comprises a shaft (8) supporting a turbine wheel (4), the shaft being supported for rotation in a housing. The shaft (8) extends through a bore (8a) in the housing and a bearing assembly (13) is disposed in the bore. The turbomachine has a first lubricating fluid slinger (50) comprising a screw thread that is engageable with a threaded section of the shaft (8) such that the first lubricating fluid slinger is screwable along the threaded section of the shaft so as to apply a compressive preload to the bearing assembly (13).
