Abstract
The invention relates to an elevator comprising at least one elevator car (12) driving along an elevator shaft (14) as well as an elevator control (42) measuring the car position. The elevator further comprises a buffer (20) in the shaft pit, whose length is adjustable in response to the car position. Via this measure the shaft pit can be reduced in high speed elevator requiring large buffer lengths.
