Abstract

A spinning reel (100) configured to forwardly reel out a fishing line includes a handle (1), a spool (4), a rotor (3), an oscillating mechanism (6), a rotor drive mechanism (5), and a reel unit (2). The reel unit includes a fishing rod attachment leg (2c), a chassis (2a), a lid member (2b), a reel unit guard (7), a protruding portion (7a), and a restriction portion (19a). The chassis has a mechanism attachment space (2d) to accommodate the oscillating mechanism and the rotor drive mechanism. The protruding portion (7a) protrudes towards at least one of the chassis (2a) and the lid member (2b) from an inner lateral surface of the reel unit guard (7). The restriction portion (19a) is disposed on at least of the chassis and the lid member. The restriction portion is engaged with the protruding portion to restrict the reel unit guard from moving in a direction away from the fishing rod attachment leg (2c).
