Abstract

A test device and a method for determining the level of corrosion inhibitor effectiveness in a wet central heating system using dissimilar metal contacts electrically connected so that a galvanic electrical current or a voltage is presented across the contacts preferably with an electrical resistance as a decay profile over a time period. The electrical resistance having a value such that a base water decay profile is substantially stabilised whilst a working water decay profile continues to decay over time so that a threshold difference between the base water profile and the working water profile is indicative of the level of effectiveness of a corrosion inhibitor in the working water comprising the corrosion inhibitor and the base water flowing in the heating system.
