Abstract

A recording apparatus includes a transport mechanism (3) that can intermittently move a movable belt (10) capable of supporting a recording medium (P); a feeding unit (2) that feeds the recording medium left in a stretched state to the movable belt by receiving tension from the recording medium in response to the intermittent movement of the movable belt; and a recording mechanism (4) that performs recording by causing a recording head (7) to reciprocate in a direction (B) which intersects a transport direction (A) of the recording medium. When the load sensor detects the load which is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value, a first load reduction mode for driving the feeding motor is performed so as to feed the recording medium to the movable belt in synchronization with the intermittent movement of the movable belt.
