Abstract

A method may include a device joining a distributed database in a distributed physical access control system (110). The method may include storing first data (362) in a first memory area (360) of a memory (350). The first memory area (360) may be designated to store data for a consensus-based distributed database (DB) (360). The first data (362) is to be added to the consensus-based distributed DB (360) that is distributed among other devices (115) in a network (110). The method may include copying the first data (362) to a second memory area (370) of the memory (350) of the device (115) and adding the device (115) to the network (110), receiving data from the other devices in the network and adding the received data to the consensus-based distributed DB (360) by storing the received data in the first memory area (360), and adding the first data (372) to the consensus-based distributed DB (360) by copying the first data (372) from the second memory area (370) to the first memory area (360).
