Abstract

A safety device for use in a vehicle. The safety device comprises an air-bag (5) which is configured to be inflated by a source of gas. At least part of the air-bag (5) is woven and comprises a plurality of generally parallel woven yarns (6). An elongate tether (8) is attached to the air-bag (5) by an attachment arrangement (9). The attachment arrangement (9) comprises a first portion (10) in which part of the tether (8) passes between two adjacent yarns (13, 14) of the air-bag (5) from one side of the air-bag (5) to another side of the air-bag (5) and partly around at least two adjacent yarns (14, 15) on one side of the air-bag (5). The attachment arrangement (9) incorporates a second portion in which the tether (8) is interwoven with a pre-determined number of single adjacent yarns (17, 19 and 21) of the air-bag (5). The attachment arrangement (9) incorporates a third portion in which the tether (8) passes between two adjacent yarns (21, 22) of the air-bag (5) from one side of the air-bag (5) to another side of the air-bag (5) and partly around at least two adjacent yarns (23, 24) on one side of the air-bag (5).
