Abstract

The present invention relates an authentication apparatus that displays an inputted password in masked form on a password input area 81b. When the user touches a password peripheral region 81d close to the password input area 81b, the actual password is revealed. The password inputted by the user may be shown with masked characters, such as "*." , and the true password characters are revealed when the hand of the user touches nearby the display, forming a shielding shape with its hand to prevent bypassers from peeking at the password.
