Abstract

A conveyor belt (1) provided with at least one guide rim (9), wherein the guide rim (9) extends in a longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt (1) such that it enables guiding of the conveyor belt (1) along a lateral guide surface on an outer periphery of a roll or the like by means of which the direction of the conveyor belt (1) is changed and by means of which the conveyor belt (1) is subjected to a predetermined bending, and wherein the guide rim (9) has a contact surface (11) that is in contact with the conveyor belt (1). In a position in which the conveyor belt (1) is not subjected to any bending in the longitudinal direction thereof, as seen in a cross section cross wise to the longitudinal direction of the guide rim (9), the guide rim (9) presents residual stresses (Ã 1 , Ã 2 ) comprised by an induced tensile stresses (Ã 1 ) in opposite lateral regions of said contact surface (11) and an induced compressive stress (Ã 2 ) in a region between said lateral regions, said tensile stresses (Ã 1 ) generating a tensile force on the contact surface (11) in a direction away from the conveyor belt (1) and said compressive stress generating a compressive force on the contact surface (11) towards the conveyor belt (1).
