Abstract
A fan blade (84) for a turbofan gas turbine engine includes a body (88) having a pressure side (52) and a suction side (54) and a cover (90). The suction side (54) of the body (88) includes an opening (63) exposing at least one cavity (62) to reduce the weight of the fan blade (84). The cover (90) overlays the opening (63) and includes a leading portion (94) and a trailing portion (96) that are tapered in the direction of the cover leading edge (68) and cover trailing edge (70).
