Abstract

An object is to make it easier to determine the presence or absence of a defect of a woven or knitted fabric by making a texture or stitch pattern of a specimen less noticeable, which pattern is included in an image obtained by photographing the specimen that is a dyed specimen for the knitted fabric or a gray fabric for the woven fabric. There is provided an image processing apparatus configured to perform image processing on a specimen image 9 obtained by photographing a surface of a specimen of a woven or knitted fabric made of one or more synthetic fiber yarns. The image processing apparatus executes a texture or stitch reduction process of making a texture or stitch pattern of the woven or knitted fabric less noticeable on the specimen image 9.
