Abstract

Content-centric network node methods, content-centric network nodes and computer program products are disclosed. A method for a pre-caching network node of a content-centric network comprises: when it is determined that selected content is to be pre-cached by the pre-caching network node, setting a resistance value allocated to incoming links with other network nodes when carrying packets associated with the selected content to a negative value. In this way, the incoming links with other network nodes may be configured to encourage selected content to be transmitted over those links by applying a negative resistance which converts the normal cost of providing content over the link into a reward. This configuration to provide that content can be detected by the other network nodes, despite no interest for that content having been issued. This enables content to be pre-cached before any requests have been made, cached outside the path of any interest for that content and enables caches to be provided at strategic locations.
