Abstract

A heated inlet guide vane (27) is disclosed. The disclosed guide vane (27) may include a body (46) having an inlet cavity (52) disposed alongside of an outlet cavity (53) wherein the outlet cavity (53) is disposed alongside the leading edge (51) of the vane (27). The inlet cavity (52) is in communication with a source of heated air (41). The inlet cavity (52) is in communication with the outlet cavity (53) by way of a plurality of impingement holes (56) spaced along the inner wall (54) disposed between the two cavities (52,53). Bleed holes (57) are spaced along the length of the outlet cavity (53). Fresh, heated air enters the outlet cavity (53) along the entire length of the outlet cavity (53) and quickly exits the outlet cavity (53) with minimal cooling so that a uniform de-icing capability is provided along the entire leading edge (51) of the inlet guide vane (27).
