Abstract

Straddle type vehicle with a single cylinder engine (1) fixed to a vehicle frame (10), a seat (2) for a rider supported at the vehicle frame, a pair of footrests (3a,3b) for the rider attached to the vehicle frame (10), and at least one front wheel (4), said single cylinder engine (1) comprises a crankcase (5) accommodating a crank mechanism, a cylinder block (6) having a single cylinder bore accommodating a piston connected with the crank mechanism, a cylinder head (7) arranged at a top end of the cylinder block (6), and a bottom end of the cylinder block (6) is arranged at an upper part of the crank case (5), said cylinder block (6) and/or said cylinder head (7) are at least partially exposed to the out side of the vehicle, wherein the crank case (5) comprises at least one side cover lid (8,11) attached to the crank case (5) to constitute an outermost portion of the crank case (5) in width direction of the vehicle, said side cover lid (8,11) is exposed to the out side, and a cover means (9) comprises at least one cover portion (9a,9b) arranged under said side cover lid (8,11), said cover portion (9a,9b) comprises a side section (9a1,9b1) that extends in a downward direction to cover a space under the crank case (5) and intersects an imaginary plan (P) that contains a road contact point (4a) of the front wheel (4) and outermost portions of the footrests (3a,3b) in width direction of the vehicle.
