Abstract
A printing apparatus (1) includes a discharge head (8), in which nozzles that discharge UV ink, which is cured by the radiation of ultra violet rays, are formed, a main scan unit (7) that moves the discharge head relatively along a main scanning direction (X) with respect to a target printing medium, a sub-scan unit (4) that moves the discharge head relatively along a sub-scanning direction (Y), which is a direction that intersects the main scanning direction, with respect to the target printing medium, and a UV radiation unit (92), which is provided on a downstream side of the discharge unit in the sub-scanning direction, wherein an amount of radiation of the UV radiation unit in a main scan that radiates ultra violet rays from the UV radiation unit without discharging the UV ink from the discharge head is greater than an amount of radiation of the UV radiation unit in a main scan that discharges the UV ink from the discharge head, and radiates ultra violet rays from the UV radiation unit.
