Abstract

A rotary blade (25) tip insert (31) for incorporation into a rotary blade (25), for example, a rotary fan blade (25) in a gas turbine engine (10). The tip insert (31) comprises a sleeve (32) for insertion into a recess provided in said rotary blade (25). The sleeve (32) has a radially outer end (33) defining an opening (34), a radially inner end (36) and opposing wall portions (37) extending between said ends (33). The tip insert (31) further comprises a tip element (39) having a crown portion (40) and a root portion (41) for insertion into the opening (34) of said sleeve (32).
