Abstract

A pyrotechnically actuated switch (100) comprises a metal plate (104). A eutectic alloy (108) is proximate to the metal plate. An insulating material (114) is proximate to the insulating material. The insulating material includes a recess (118) in the insulating material adjacent the eutectic alloy. A lead (116) is fixed in place by the insulating material. A first end of the lead is exposed from the insulating material by the recess. In response to a switch detonation the eutectic alloy is melt via the metal plate (104), and the eutectic alloy (108) is forced into the recess (118) while malleable or in a a liquid state to at least partically fill recess (118) and contact lead (116).
