Abstract

A single-use fluid circuit (10), a system and a method for the separation of blood into blood products are provided permitting automated recovery of white blood cells in a second collection container (28) after producing a leukocyte-reduced blood product through a leukocyte reduction filter (20) in a first collection container (26). The fluid circuit (10) further comprises several flow paths and sources of solution and eluate. The system further comprises clamps (64-76) and pumps (58, 60, 62) and a programmable controller (56) for automatically selectively opening and closing at least some of the clamps (64-76) and actuating at least some of the pumps (58-62) for collecting the blood products into the first and the second collection containers (26, 28).
