Abstract
A tire management system for a vehicle having at least two wheels is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of wheels (18) on each of which a respective air-inflatable tire (22) having a tire cavity (24) is mounted; a bidirectional pump (28) on each of the plurality of wheels (18) for selectively pumping air from each respective tire (22) to atmosphere for deflating said tire (22) and for pumping air from atmosphere into each respective tire cavity (24) for inflating said tire (22); and a battery assembly (36) mounted to each of the plurality of wheels (18) for powering the respective bidirectional pump (28); wherein the battery assemblies (36) each include a chargeable battery and a magnet. Also, a respective wheel (18) and a vehicle comprising such a wheel (18) and tire (22) is disclosed.
