Abstract

An image capturing apparatus (101) comprises object detection means (509) configured to detect a moving object from a captured image captured by image capturing means via an omnidirectional imaging lens; setting means (510) configured to set a reference vertical position in the captured image corresponding to a direction below the camera perpendicular to a horizontal plane of the real space; decision means (508) configured to decide, based on a relationship between the reference vertical position and a position of the object region in the captured image, a determination position (position of the person's foot) used to determine passage of the object out of the region of the object; and passage detection means (511) configured to detect, based on the determination position (position of the person's foot) decided by the decision means and a detection line preset on the captured image, passage of the object across the detection line.
