Abstract
The present document relates to a method for protection switching in an optical data transmission network providing redundant transmission capacity for switching at least one WDM (wavelength division multiplex) channel from a working path to a protection path, the method comprising the steps of: - receiving pre-computing switching information at a network node of the optical data transmission network, said switching information at least partially comprise switching settings associated with a switching unit comprised within the network node; - in case of a network failure, providing at least a portion of the pre-computed switching information to a switching unit included in the network node; and - changing the routing of at least one WDM channel from the working path to the protection path by the switching unit based on information included in the pre-computed switching information.
