Abstract

A control unit (60) performs a purging process, which introduces fuel vapor adsorbed by a canister (31) into an intake passage (14). The control unit (60) identifies clogging of a purge passage (33) based on a decrease amount of the pressure (PC) in the canister (31) that results from execution of the purging process. The control unit (60) opens an isolation valve (45) when the pressure (TP) in a fuel tank (21) is less than or equal to a first pressure (A), which is less than an atmospheric pressure, and closes the isolation valve (45) when the pressure (TP) in the fuel tank (21) is greater than or equal to a second pressure (B), which is greater than the first pressure (A) and less than the atmospheric pressure. The control unit (60) disables the purging process at least in a period from when the control unit (60) closes the isolation valve (45) to when a prescribed time has elapsed from the closing of the isolation valve (45).
