Abstract
A method and apparatus for performing target detection. A potential object (120) is detected within a candidate chip (122) in an image (118). The potential object (120) is verified as a candidate object (128). The candidate object (128) is classified as one of a candidate target (132) or a background (134) in response to the potential object (120) being verified as the candidate object (128). The candidate target (132) is verified as a target of interest (112) in response to the candidate object (128) being classified as the candidate target (132).
