The crop-package transfer system comprises: a support frame (40, 60, 80, 194, 204, 230, 260, 272, 292, 304, 322) at least one flexible member (42, 62, 82, 116, 136, 150, 170, 256, 270, 290) supported by the support frame (40, 60, 80, 194, 204, 230, 260, 272, 292, 304, 322), the crop-package transfer system (30, 30a, 30b, 30c, 30d, 30e, 30f, 30g) being configured to support a crop package with the crop package on a first side of the at least one flexible member (42, 62, 82, 116, 136, 150, 170, 256, 270, 290); a motive member (50, 70, 90, 110, 130, 154, 176, 190, 200, 216, 254) disposed on a second side of the at least one flexible member (42, 62, 82, 116, 136, 150, 170, 256, 270, 290); and an actuator device (196, 210, 228) configured to move the motive member (50, 70, 90, 110, 130, 154, 176, 190, 200, 216, 254) along the second side of the at least one flexible member (42, 62, 82, 116, 136, 150, 170, 256, 270, 290), such that the motive member (50, 70, 90, 110, 130, 154, 176, 190, 200, 216, 254) transmits motive force from the actuator device (196, 210, 228) to the crop package via the at least one flexible member (42, 62, 82, 116, 136, 150, 170, 256, 270, 290).
