Abstract

An object is to provide a cylinder device which can be used successfully over a long period of time. The cylinder device includes a cylinder (1), a piston (7), an external cylinder (11), a tank (25) and first piping (30). The piston (7) is slidably inserted into the cylinder (1) . The piston (7) divides an interior of the cylinder (1) into a rod-side chamber (8) and a piston-side chamber (9). The external cylinder (11) is disposed outside the cylinder (1) and covers the cylinder (1) . The tank (25) is formed in a space between the cylinder (1) and the external cylinder (11) and stores an operating fluid. The first piping (30) constitutes part of a first passage (T1) through which passes the operating fluid supplied to and discharged from the rod-side chamber (8) or the piston-side chamber (9) . The first piping (30) has two ends one of which has a larger outer diameter than the other end. The first piping (30) is disposed in the tank (25).
