Abstract

A walking training apparatus includes a walking assistance apparatus attachable to a leg of a user, first pulling means for pulling the leg upward and forward, control means for controlling the first pulling means so that a vertically-upward component of a normal pulling force applied by the first pulling means reduces a weight of the walking assistance apparatus, and a motion detecting unit for detecting the start of forward swinging of the leg. The control means makes the first pulling means generate an additional pulling force in addition to the normal pulling force when the start of forward swinging of the leg is detected by the motion detecting unit.
