Abstract

A control system includes an ECU (100). The ECU(100) controls supply of the fuel from an addition valve (26) and supply of the fuel from an injection valve (23), estimates or detect a degree of end-face clogging on an exhaust-gas inflow side of a NOx catalyst (74), and sets an inlet temperature of the NOx catalyst (74) which is adjusted by use of the fuel supplied from the injection valve (23) to a higher level and set an amount of the fuel supplied from the addition valve (26) to a smaller value in a case where the degree of end-face clogging is equal to or larger than a predetermined value, than an amount of the fuel supplied from the fuel addition valve in a case where the degree of end-face clogging is smaller than the predetermined value, when at least one of a request for regeneration of the exhaust purification filter and a request for regeneration of the NOx catalyst (74) is generated.
