Abstract

An agricultural harvester (10) includes a chassis (12), with a separating system (24) and a residue handling system (70) each carried by the chassis (12). The separating system receives a flow of crop material producing a chaff flow (78) and a residue flow (80). The residue handling system (70) receives the chaff flow (78) and the residue flow (80) from the separating system (24), and the residue handling system (70) includes a residue chopper (72) operationally positioned immediately above a residue spreader (74). The residue spreader (74) is oriented to receive the chaff flow (78) and the residue flow (80) chopped by the residue chopper (72).
