Abstract

Disclosed is a laboratory system (1) for processing biological sample(s) and a method for operating a laboratory system (1) comprising: laboratory instrument(s) (10), a sample input station (12) and a control unit (20) configured to determine whether a definite test order (100) is available corresponding to the biological sample received, the definite test order (100) being indicative of provisional processing step(s) to be executed on the biological sample; and further configured to retrieve the definite test order (100) and instruct the laboratory system (1) to execute the provisional processing steps thereof, wherein the control unit (20) is further configured to: generate a provisional test order (101) corresponding to the biological sample received; and instruct the laboratory system (1) to execute the provisional processing steps according to the provisional test order (101) if a definite test order (100) is not available to the laboratory system (1).
