Abstract
An adapter assembly (100) for connecting a handle assembly (10) with a loading unit (110) is provided. The adapter assembly (100) includes a housing (102), an elongate body (104) extending from the housing (102), and a trocar assembly supported within the elongate body (104) and including a trocar member (106). The trocar member (106) extends from the elongate body (104) and is magnetized. Also provided are various assemblies for protecting the distal end of a surgical stapler during introduction of the surgical stapler within a patient.
