Abstract
With the conception of mobile relaying and more in particular vehicle mounted mobile relaying, there is opened a plurality of communication routes to a user equipment node (10, 20, 30) from a mobile communication base station (200). It is the task of a scheduler (225) in the base station (200) to determine the appropriate route to user equipment node (10, 20, 30) for a downlink or uplink data transport. For determining the most efficient route in optimized fashion, the scheduler (225) would need to know the link quality of all single links. Since multiple stations may be deployed the reporting of all link qualities is impractical. To overcome this problem, the base station performs a segmentation of its coverage area and informs the associated relay nodes (RN) and user equipment nodes (10, 20, 30) about their affiliation to a segment. With this information the relay nodes (RN) and user equipment nodes (10, 20, 30) send measurement reports only for a subset of all communication links to the reporting node. Based on this reduced set of measurement reports the base station (200) determines a route for the communication with the reporting node. This method provides a flexible solution for scheduling transmission resources for the concept of mobile relaying in which the tradeoff between reporting expenditure and accuracy of the route selection process can be easily controlled.
