Abstract

The invention relates to a household appliance 1,2 with an odour removal system 3 containing odour removal means 4, wherein the odour removal system 3 is provided in a circuit 5 in which a gas or an aqueous liquid can be circulated through the odour removal means 4, and wherein the odour removal means 4 contains a polyoxometalate of the Formula (I) or (II), A 3 PZ 4 O 24 (I), Aq +3 PVqZ 12-q O 40 (II), wherein Z is selected from Mo oder W, q is 0, 1, 2 or 3, and A is selected from one or more cations selected from the group consisting of (XR 1 R 2 R 3 R 4 ) + , wherein at least one of the groups R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 is a substituted or nonsubstituted alkyl, alkyloxoalkyl or cycloalkyl group that may contain at least one heteroatom selected among O, S, N or P, with at least five carbon atoms and wherein X is selected from among nitrogen or phosphorus. The invention relates moreover to a method for operating this household appliance.
