Abstract

A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel comprises first and second substrates (100, 700). A pixel electrode (600) provided in each pixel (P) and a common electrode (400) are arranged on the first substrate (100). An auxiliary line (500) is connected to the common electrode (400). A columnar spacer (800) is provided between the first and second substrates (100, 700) but fixed to the second substrate (700). Movement-stopping walls (550a, 550b) are provided on the first substrate (100) to restrict movement of the columnar spacer (800). These walls are defined in the same layer as the auxiliary line (500) but are separated from it. Since the range of movement of the columnar spacer (800) is restricted by the walls, damage to the liquid crystal alignment layer caused by the movement of the columnar spacer can be avoided, so preventing a spot defect from occurring in the LCD device.
