Abstract
A method of making a cord reinforced rubber article is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: mixing a carrier gas (18, 19), sulfur and an alkyne (17), to form a gas mixture (21); generating an atmospheric pressure plasma (24) from the gas mixture (21); exposing a reinforcement cord (26) to the atmospheric pressure plasma (24) to produce a treated reinforcement cord (28); and contacting the treated reinforcement cord (28) with a rubber composition comprising a diene based elastomer. Also, a treated reinforcement cord (28) is disclosed.
