Abstract
A method of controlling a transmission (118) includes providing an input (202), an output (284), a control system (312), a controller (310), a hydrostatic unit (240), and a geartrain (314). The geartrain (314) includes a direct drive pivot clutch (246) and a steer drive geartrain (254). The method also includes receiving a pivot command by the controller (310) from a shift selector (304), where the command indicates the shift selector (304) is in a pivot position. The method further includes engaging the direct drive pivot clutch (246), decoupling the hydrostatic unit (240) from a torque path defined between the input (202) and the output (284), and coupling the input (202) and the output (284) to one another via a second torque path. The second torque path is defined through the direct drive pivot clutch (246) and the steer drive geartrain (254). The transmission (118) is controllable in a direct drive steer operation.
