Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a system 100 for determining a torque exerted on a shaft 28, 34 of a wind turbine 10. The system 100 includes a gearbox 104 coupled to the shaft 28, 34. The gearbox 104 includes a first arm 110 and a second arm 112. First and second fluid dampers 140, 142 respectively couple to the first and second arms 110, 112 of the gearbox 104. A first fluid conduit 164 fluidly couples the first and second fluid dampers 140, 142. A first pressure sensor 168 is in operative association with the first fluid conduit 164 to detect a fluid pressure of fluid within the first fluid conduit 164. A controller 170 communicatively couples to the first pressure sensor 168. The controller 170 is configured to determine the torque exerted on the shaft 28, 34 based on signals 176 received from the first pressure sensor 168.
