Abstract

Provided are a rubber composition, for a tread, which allows both wet grip performance and fuel economy to be improved in a well-balance manner, and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition. Provided is a rubber composition, for a tread, which includes: a predetermined amount of a rubber component that contains a styrene-butadiene rubber having a predetermined bound styrene content, a predetermined vinyl content, and a predetermined weight average molecular weight; and a predetermined amount of each of carbon black, silica, aluminium hydroxide and/or aluminium oxide, a predetermined silane coupling agent, and a softener component containing an aromatic resin.
